Lives and works in London.

Harry Hancock’s work is informed by his experience as a scenic painter within film and television, where artificial environments are continually constructed, altered and dismantled to create convincing realities. His paintings explore the space between lived experience and its representation, examining how images, stories and memories are repeatedly reconstructed and transformed. Through staged environments, unseen labour and mediated landscapes, Hancock considers the processes through which realities are assembled, performed and mantained. Occupying the uncertain space between the authentic and the artificial, his work explores how layers of retelling accumulate, making the distinction between original and reproduction increasingly difficult to locate.
