Lives and works in London.

Hancock’s work as a scenic painter for TV and film has a strong influence on his artistic practice. Stages of construction and deconstruction feature both physically and metaphorically. The meticulous assembly of artificial environments to resemble our reality and inform our collective consciousness are the basis of his paintings.

In today’s digital age, the authenticity of imagery and the experience behind it is a constant source of dispute, leaving us with a pervasive sense of scepticism towards what we see. The boundaries between high value productions and the meticulously curated lives of individuals have blurred, and we find ourselves navigating a world where the mundane and the extravagant are sensationally magnified. Hancock is drawn to the mediated and cliched notions of life that saturate our scenes and infiltrate our offline experiences, forming a cycle of ceaselessly reinterpreted moments. Where the past, present, and future are in constant flux, recycling worn out stories to fill the ever expanding void.
